AmeriChrome™ PVD Chrome is a decorative process that allows ultra thin layers of metal to be deposited on a variety of surfaces. The process was originally developed for the space program and is currently used in a variety of commercial applications including components for the automotive aftermarket.
The AmeriChrome™ PVD Chrome process rakes place in a sophisticated vacuum metallization chamber where precise layers of various types of chrome are deposited onto the substrate. The ultra thin layers of metal bond tightly with the substrate and provide excellent adhesion and a bright chrome like appearance.
Proven Performance and Quality
Products coated with AmeriChrome™ PVD Chrome have consistently demonstrated the ability to meet the highest performance test in the automotive industry and are measured against the following standards:
- ASTM B368 Copper Accelerated Salt Spray (CASS)
- GM 9525 Thermal Shock. Spoke and rim sections subjected to thermal shock, water immersion three (3) hours. Them to 129 degrees C, scribe through coatings and blast with jet stream.
- GM 9682 Filiform Corrosion Test. Scribed spoke exposure.
- GM 9900P, mtd B. Fluid resistance for gasoline, engine oil, Armor All®, brake fluid, soap and xylene.
- ATM D3399 Adhesion Test after 96 hours of high humidity.
